Graduation 2008

Well, Kindergarten Graduation was Tuesday morning and of all things, Sarah woke up with a bad case of pink eye! What does a mom do? I knew that more than likely she was highly contagious (about 70 percent of cases are contagious in the first 24 hours) It would not have been such a big deal to miss it, but I had put in a lot of work, time and money into the whole production. My mom had come over the night before to watch the kids while I went and helped decorate, pick up cupcakes and run errands. Sarah's grandparents were also planning on coming an hours drive to attend. Boy, I was bummed!! At 6:55 am we made the decision to call the grandparents and tell them not to come.....Sarah did not need to go and contaminate the entire kindergarten class on the last week of school. She was sad about it, but she understood why. So I left the house to take the cupcakes and other items that were needed that morning. When I got to school her teacher informed me that she was recieving a special award that day. She really wanted her to be there. She suggested letting Sarah sit in the audience off to the side and I could walk her up to the stage to receive her diploma and award. I called David immediately and he got her to school just in time!

We got some cute pics of her in her cap and gown (and swollen eye).....the next time she wears these, she will be graduating from high school. If only time would slow down a little bit!!!

By the way, Sarah ended up getting pink eye in the other eye and Luke followed a few days later with it too. Luckily, Andrew did not get it, but we think he now has a case of Hand, Foot and Mouth......I guess we will go ahead and get all the contagious diseases out of our system before the summer gets in full swing!!!

Sarah Ballerina

Sarah with her flowers

Sarah was a spring flower in her end of the year ballet production, "The Ugly Duckling." Her favorite part of ballet is being on stage, so she had a ball! Don't you just love the last picture above.....never a dull moment around here!!!

Luke finished 3-year-old preschool last week. He has had such a wondeful year! He learned so much, and he has grown in so many ways. He is already asking me when Pre-K starts!!! I hope he always loves school this much!! His best little buddy is Carter (he is the cute little boy with glasses). They ended the year with a little concert. All his grandparents were able to come which was such a blessing:) His class sang 2 songs....he did not do much singing, but he seemed to always keep up with the motions that went along with them:)

Sarah is Six!

Happy Belated Birthday, sweet girl! We are so amazed at how fast our precious daughter is growing. She is such a joy to us. Here are a few things that I want to always remember about my now six year old daughter:

-You love anything sweet.....doesn't matter what it is, if it has sugar or chocolate in it, you devour it right away! I am convinced that you are going to be a pastry chef one day:)
-You love to laugh and your laugh is unforgettable......especially when daddy tickles you incessantly!
-You love books and love to be read to....especially at bedtime....and now that you are reading, mommy enjoys hearing you read, too!
-You love your kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Thirey, and your mommy wishes you could stay in kindergarten forever!
-You love the outdoors.....you don't mind getting dirty and are fascinated by bugs or anything that is small and crawls outside
- You do not like dogs .....we are definitely going to need to work on that one.....not sure where the fear originated, but you can't be afraid of man's best friend!
-You are very imaginative.....you always seem to come up with something to do
-You are a great big sister to your little brothers....you love on them and love to boss them around (so far, they don't mind it too much, but I know the day is coming when that will all change!)
-You love to make necklaces....definitely inspired by your Aunt Joy's love of jewelry-making
-You love to paint and draw and make beautiful rainbows, flowers and people
-You love to listen to the same praise CD in the morning on the way to school...especially the song "You are Amazing God"
-Your best friend is your little brother Luke....you guys are still inseparable
-You love to be girly and put on pretty dresses, wear necklaces and paint your fingernails
-You love to make messes in your room.....definitely a result of your "imaginative" little mind (at least that is what mommy tells herself after asking you 100 times to clean up your room!)
-You love to swim and can't wait for summer to start so that you can swim all the time
-You still love anything princess related.....your favorite is Sleeping Beauty
- You love pink and "sparkly" colors and love to play with your dollhouse and dress and undress your AG dolls
-You have always measured in the 75-90 percentile in height....mommy is hoping you are taller than her one day...she is keeping her fingers crossed!! The doctors predict for you to be around 5 feet 8 inches tall.....only time will tell!
-You have already lost a total of 4 teeth by your 6th birthday, and you lost the 5th tooth 3 weeks later! Mommy pulled 3 and Papa pulled one, too:)
-You always seem to have bruises on your legs somehow.....either from running into something or rough-housing with daddy and your brothers!
-You are a joy to your mommy and daddy and all your family:)

We love you more than you can fathom!! Can't wait to see what God has in store for you this next year:) Happy Birthday, beautiful Sarah Anne!!

Soccer Season

Luke in action Playing goalie
The Bulldogs with Coaches

Well, I am now officially a soccer mom:) Luke and his little buddy, Averett, decided to play soccer this spring at the YMCA. Luke was hesitant at first, but after a couple of practices and games, he really loved it. I think his favorite part was running after all the kids kicking the ball.....he never scored a goal, but he always kept track of how many times he kicked the ball during each game. We are so proud of the progress he made. He went from a little boy who was nearly in tears over going to practice, to the kid who always asked when the next game was going to be. Coach Tim and Stacy were amazing coaches..... Here are a few pictures that highlight his first soccer season. Go Bulldogs!:
